What do you do on a ghost hunt? You will be taken into locations in the hope we witness evidence of the paranormal. The evening will start with a welcome talk, and then you will be lead around the location on a tour. This has two benefits, the first being you will get to hear a little about the history and reported sightings in the various areas and secondly this is your chance to get your bearings and become familiar to where you will be spending the evening. You will then be split into smaller groups and undertake various experiments and vigils to see if we can get anything paranormal to happen. What happens if we get scared? Being scared isn't something to be ashamed of, its actually quite natural. If it really does get too much for anyone, rest assured that you are in great hands and we will look after you. Nobody will ever be forced or asked to anything that makes them feel uncomfortable. You will be with an experienced Paranormal investigator for the whole duration. What do I need to take with me? Warm clothing...some of the areas you may visit has no heating, windows, fires etc so plenty of layers after all you can take them off if you get hot. Sensible shoes or trainers that are comfortable. Probably the most important piece of equipment is the everyday torch. When ghost hunting you are almost certainly in the dark, the lights of the building are turned out as this is said to encourage the ghost and spirits to manifest as they feel more comfortable in the dark and this also enhances your senses. So finding your way round could be difficult or dangerous without one. Cameras are another essential item. What type of camera to use is up to you whether it is a digital or a 35mm film camera. A lot of sceptics say the digital is easy to fake and dismiss images taken by them, where as a 35mm disposable camera may only have a limited number shots on the film, but you at least have the negatives which can be used as evidence. The camera can record images of orbs, misting and shadowy shapes from by spirits and ghosts. Camcorders can be used on a ghost hunt, these being used to capture movement, sounds and other paranormal activity such as orbs, light anomalies and the manifestations of spirits or ghosts. Sony have a range of camcorders suited to ghost hunting, and nearly all if not all of them have nightshot mode, which means you can record in the dark. Digital sound recording equipment is becoming more popular on ghost hunts; these are used to record EVP (electronic voice phenomena). Recording equipment that uses tape tend to pick up the noise of the mechanism, which can lead to false recordings. When using digital recorders try and get one that has an option for an external mic source. This then can be placed away from the recorder to eliminate any interference the unit may pick up. Most if not all of the above equipment will be on hand to share around the groups of fundraisers. But please feel free to bring your own equipment, should you wish.
