Why the Name ?

In the early to mid 1600’s there was a man called Mathew Hopkins, who travelled in search of witches. He was known as "Mathew Hopkins Witch Finder General". Thats where it came from. Like him I travel the UK, but in search of Ghosts and Paranormal Phenomena.

Do you work alone ?

Yes and no. I have worked on my own before, but i usually work with other paranormal groups. I have invited groups to events that i have arranged, and i have been invited along to events held by other groups. Its interesting to see the different methods used by different groups and/or individuals. I must say though when working you will often find me drifting off on my own, i tend to wander off into the dark on my own quite a lot.

Do you earn any money from this?

Absolutely not ! Its an expensive past time i can assure you, just ask the wife! I have actually attended charity events and contributed to them, the money has went only one way, and thats out of my pocket (sporran).

Why do you do this ?

This is Cliche but since i was young i can only remember always having an interest in the Paranormal.

Why do you wear a Kilt ?

Long story behind that one, the short version is i was to investigate a place in Preston called Samlesbury Hall. It was destroyed by the Scottish after the battle of Bannockburn when the Scots defeated the English. The idea was to provoke anyone or anything who happened to remain at Samlesbury Hall. Seeing a kilted man might just upset those who were from a time when the Tartan and Pipes were outlawed. Since then the Kilt has stayed with me, and probably always will, but it dont half get cold sometimes!!

What equipment do you use ?

I use a Sony HD Nightvision Camcorder, lock off Mini DV's as well as digital and conventional cameras. I also use EMF, EVP, Trigger Objects, but im limited to what i can carry, and of course my own provoking technique to stir and encourage activity. I really am only interested in Manefestation, or physical Paranormal activity. That is probably why i work alone, as paranormal groups tend to conduct more experiments, and i can work alongside them because of my interests. We kind of compliment one another.

Does anything scare you ?

I am still waiting for that to happen, i am human after all. I have been "rattled" a couple of times but never ever panicked and would never run away. What would be the point in that, thats what i’m there for right ?
